DRAWING.

Drawing informed the initial stages of the ‘Tradition through Transition’ project, heavily influenced by primary visual research, extracting colour, capturing tones, shades and marks, relating back to place and portraying the mood of the location. Visual sources of inspiration came from the vast ocean which surrounds the Orkney Islands, the erosion found on the surface of rocks and cliffs, the grassy landscapes which stretch for miles and the historic sites, such as the ring of Brodgar and Skara Brae.
