Inspired by the waves washed onto Balmerino’s shore by the River Tay, creating a sense of tranquillity and peace, the ‘Light Collection’ is a visual response to moments of positivity as the mind goes quiet and the world goes still, translated into my works using soft tones, organic, fluid, free-flowing marks, and sparse hints of energetic, vibrant colour flickering throughout. These elements represent the ‘positive’ side to Bipolar type 2 disorder, showcasing a sense of light, calmness, and stability in contrast with the turbulent, crashing nature of rapid mood changes, which is showcased within the ‘Dark Collection’.
